On November 25th 2024 we will welcome FC United of Manchester + their fans to Prague to take part in the 1st round, 2nd leg tie of this year's Fenix Trophy Tournament.
We look forward to welcome our friends form England and hope to make everyone's time in the Czech capital a fun, safe and memorable experience.
Check out our guide below on what you can expect on your trip to our beautiful city.
Background
Prague is the capital city of Czech Republic and home to almost 1.4 million citizens. Prague is known as the 'city of a hundred spires' and is home to some wonderous archtiecture - we recommend to visit Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock + the Dancing House. As well as its fame for beauty, the city is also well-known for the vibrant + cosmopolitan nightlife which attracts tourists from around the world.
Raptors
Most of the FC United fans know us by now...but for those that don't - our Men's team sits in the 6th tier of the Czech league. As we are based in the capital, the size of which is much bigger than other cities in the country, we actually have our own 'region' and therefore only play games against sides from in and around Prague.
As well as our Men's A, we also have a Men's B team (8th division), Women's A (2nd division) and Women's B (9-a-side). We also have a full academy of 12 teams, with girls and boys aged from 5 to 17.
Any fans arriving earlier for the game are welcome to come watch our Men's A game on Saturday November 23rd at 11:00 (Location: U Zličínského hřiště 499/3, 155 21, Prague).

Pitch
Sadly, Prague football (and Czech Republic in general) is not a big fan of winter matches - in fact we usually have a winter break which spans from mid-November to mid-March. Because of this there is little need for clubs outside of the top 2 divisions to have floodlights on their main pitch. Because of this we need to rent a '2nd pitch' from our hosts for the game, Admira Prague (a well-established 3rd division side). The pitch is artificial & on the small side, 90Mx54M. The pitch has a small concrete stand on one side.
Entrance Fee
We have never charged for entrance to our games (this is only done by a couple of clubs at our level)...and it did not feel right to do this just because FC United are visiting with a large number of fans - so entrance to the game is 100% free for everyone.
We do though have a QR code that will be visible at the game and we will be collecting donations - this is entirely voluntary and there will be no pressure to do so. Those already wanting to donate to our club can do so using the QR code found here. If the QR code does not work you can just click here: https://revolut.me/petrawl68
Or course fans are welcome to buy merchandise / programs at our stall too.
Food & Drink
The pitch has 2 bars inside the stadium area and 1 jus outside near the entrance, which the owners have informed us will all be open. Sadly these are not right next to the pitch so consider this when getting a drink. There will also be food available to purchase (chips, hot dogs etc...).
Payment by cash & card is possible in the restaurant and the craft beer bar whilst only cash is possible at the smaller bar. We would recommend to have both in case any issues with the card machines.
Note: Only plastic cups allowed pitchside!
Media
We will have a professional photographer at the game as well as a TV crew. As usual, the game will be screened on Fenix Trophy's YouTube channel.
Merchandise
As the pitch is not ours, we do not have a club shop, but we will have a small stand for merchandise available. This will include scarves, hats + pin badges. We will also have a small number of shirts available - some new and some worn (the worn will be available at a heavily discounted price).
A small program + teamsheet will be available for 50 CZK.
As it is just a merch stand we will only be able to take cash.
Getting Around
Prague is very easy to get around - we have metro, tram, bus & river boats when it comes to public transport. When buying paper tickets make sure to stamp them prior to entering vehicles or you could be fined by the transport police. We recommend not to 'wave down' taxis as there are stories of tourists getting over-charged. Instead we recommend to download the Uber app which works very well.
